2019 DANVA Instructions

There are two computerized versions of the DANVA. The one we call the "computer" version (see your most recent email about the CLNTS.dan) is not web-based. It simply needs to be installed on a computer. All data is collected from that particular computer.

If you need or want a web-based version, then you want to use the set of 5-files for the Flash (.php) based version of the DANVA to function correctly. In order to do this, you need to:

  1. Talk to your IT department to set up a website hosted at your institution for your study

  2. Start a survey with consent form from your school's survey generator (Checkbox, Qualtrics, etc.), or create a "home" web page as the opener to your study.

  3. Create a web-based folder on your school's server and upload all 5 of the DANVA files you want to use to that folder

  4. Link people to the appropriate web-site to start taking the measure - let's say, for example, you choose to call your web folder http://csumb.edu/esnider/DANVA. Then you would link people to the DANVA Flash (.swf) program at that location - like http://csumb.edu/esnider/DANVA/adult.swf

To access the downloadable DANVA files, go to http://www.users.miamioh.edu/wicklivb/DANVA/download.html to try out the DANVA stimuli online. Remember that the first time you go to the website from a given computer you will need to enter the following case sensitive info.

Login: DANVA_1

Password: psychology (or psychology2)

Everything you/your IT people need should be there. I am also attaching the instructions here for your convenience. Finally, other researchers take the digital files (pictures are .jpegs, voice clips are .wavs) and use them as stimuli in other computer programs. If that's something your lab is interested in, please have your adviser contact Steve and I for the additional website that hosts those stimuli.
